LEARN HOW TO HELP OTHERS SAVE ENERGY AND MONEY AT HOME

Would you like to contribute your time to your local community and help others lower their home energy usage and save money?  Green@Home is a program within Acterra, a non-profit environmental organization, and we are looking for volunteers to perform  FREE energy-saving HouseCalls to residents in Cupertino, Menlo Park, Palo Alto, Redwood City and Sunnyvale. We train Green@Home volunteers to provide energy audits and install free energy-saving devices, such as (among others):

            -- retractable clothesline
            -- compact fluorescent light bulbs
            -- faucet aerators
            -- low-flow showerhead
Green@Home volunteer trainings consist of two, 4 hour classes.  We ask volunteers to commit to making a minimum of 2 HouseCalls a month.  Each HouseCall is approximately 2.5 hours long and volunteers work in pairs.  We ask those who complete the training to volunteer for approximately two HouseCalls a month with a minimum of 10 HouseCalls over the course of the year.  In addition, because some people want to take our training without making a volunteer commitment, we ask for a deposit of $30 from all trainees.   This $30 will be refunded when a minimum of 2 HouseCalls is performed in the first couple of months following the training.  (This time frame can be extended with reason.)
We are planning 3 sessions at this time.
SESSION A – Menlo Park:
Mondays, January 11 AND January 25,
5:30 pm - 9:45 pm

SESSION B – Palo Alto:
Wednesdays, January 13 AND January 27,
5:30 pm - 9:45 pm

SESSION C – Sunnyvale:
February 10 and February 24,
5:30 pm - 9:45 pm

If you are interested in joining our program and are able to attend the two-part training, email Carolyn Spitz (greenathome@acterra.org) your name, phone number and desired session to greenathome@acterra.org.  Location details will be sent to registered participants a week prior to the training.
